The RightEye technology was used as an objective outcome measure tool to monitor brain health and performance to monitor progression of her overall brain health
This patient was brought to the office by her daughter and granddaughter with early symptoms of Alzheimer's Disease with symptoms that may be progressing in the manner of forgetfulness as well as physical symptoms. After hearing about how upper cervical chiropractic can effect neurodegenerative disorders and finding out about the RightEye technology, they were greatly interested in beginning care and monitoring brain health more closely to increase her quality of life.
The RightEye technology was used as an objective outcome measure tool to monitor brain health and performance to monitor progression of her overall brain health and the effects of being under upper cervical chiropractic care. RightEye exams were performed before and after her first adjustment and will continue to be used as an instrument to monitor progress throughout care.
We analyzed this patient for a misalignment and screened for poor relationship between segments at the craniocervical junction. She qualified for treatment due to her findings and clinical necessity. She was then asked to complete a RightEye assessment to the best of her abilities before and after the first adjustment. The first time taking the assessment she had very low scores and particularly struggled with saccades. She was unable to perform choice reaction time and discriminate reaction time tests.
Treatment included a specific adjustment in the upper cervical spine to restore proper relationship at the craniocervical junction and was followed with additional RightEye assessments to give us a window into her brain health and function. As time goes on, at home eye exercises may be prescribed.
We have gauged success through her changes in symptoms, condition of the upper cervical spine from visit to visit, and her progress with the RightEye assessments. Her very first time taking a RightEye Exam she was almost unable to perform saccades before the adjustment was made at the craniocervical junction and wasn't able to perform or comprehend choice reaction and discriminations. 30 minutes after her chirorpactic visit and adjustment we retested her and her saccades drastically improved! On a follow-up visit she was even able to comprehend and perform choice reaction and discriminations to complete an entire Brain Health EyeQ Exam, although she was still very slow at the process. Her progress has been looking up and great change is being seen!
